Basketball in Serbia is more than just a sport – it’s tradition, pride, and a way of life. Over the decades, Serbian (and former Yugoslav) players, coaches, and sports officials have left an indelible mark on the global stage. The best proof of this is the fact that many of them have found their place in the FIBA Hall of Fame, an institution that preserves the memory of the greatest legends of this game.
What is the FIBA Hall of Fame?
The FIBA Hall of Fame was founded in 2007 in Alcobendas, a suburb of Madrid, but has been located in Mies, Switzerland, since 2013 — in the headquarters of the International Basketball Federation.
Its purpose is to honor players, coaches, referees, and officials who have contributed to the global growth and popularity of basketball. Induction into the Hall of Fame is one of the highest honors anyone in this sport can receive.
