BACKGROUND
Ognjen comes from a true sporting family, as both of his parents were professional athletes. His father, Nikola, played professional football in Serbia—starting his career at Zastava Kragujevac—and later in Greece, where Ognjen was born. His mother, Jasmina, was a professional basketball player and served as captain of Radnički Kragujevac for a period of time. Ognjen’s younger sister, Nikolina, plays volleyball and is a member of MaxVolley Kragujevac.
It is also worth noting that Ognjen’s grandfather was the famous Milašin Milić, known as “Ujka.” Milašin was the captain of Radnički Kragujevac during the club’s time in the top tier of Yugoslav football.
“Ujka” was born in the village of Zakuta near Kraljevo and made 128 appearances for Radnički in the Yugoslav First League. He played as a defender and later worked as a coach in Kragujevac after ending his playing career. He passed away on December 29, 2002, in Kragujevac.
JUNIOR CAREER
In several interviews, Ognjen has highlighted Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal as his tennis idols. Milic plays left-handed, just like the legendary Spaniard, and his favorite surface is clay – the surface on which Nadal won most of his titles.
He began showcasing his immense talent at a very early age, becoming Europe’s top U14 player in 2021. With Serbia’s junior national team, he won a silver medal at the 2024 European Junior Championships in Lyon.

He first gained wider public attention in 2025, when he reached the doubles final at the Australian Open junior tournament. His partner was Egor Pleshivtsev from Russia. At the same event, he also reached the third round of the singles competition, where he was defeated 2–1 by eventual champion Henry Bernet of Switzerland.
Milić’s progress in 2025 did not go unnoticed. Toward the end of the year, he was invited by the ATP to serve as a sparring partner for the world’s best young players at the NextGen Finals in Jeddah.
SENIOR CAREER
Ognjen earned his first ATP ranking points in 2024, while he was still primarily competing as a junior.
Following a successful junior career, he began competing on the professional circuit in 2025. He won his first senior title in September of that year in Kursumlijska Banja. In a very short period, he captured three ITF 15K titles, which helped him break into the ATP Top 500.
DAVIS CUP
Ognjen Milic made his Davis Cup debut for Serbia in an away tie against Chile during the qualifiers for the 2026 World Group. He faced former world No. 19 Alejandro Tabilo, who is also known for having a positive head-to-head record (2–1) against Novak Djokovic.
Milic managed a remarkable comeback in the first set after trailing 3–5, winning it in a tie-break (7–3). However, in the following two sets, the much more experienced Chilean turned the match around, giving his team a 2–0 lead after the first day.
