FIVB WOMEN’S RANKINGS

The FIVB women’s volleyball world rankings are the rankings of the women’s best volleyball national teams based on the points scored in the official matches, and it is the main parameter for determining the seeds in the draw for major competitions, both for the qualifiers and for the main tournament. Recently, the FIVB ranking list has gained even more importance because it determines the five national teams participating in the Olympic tournament.

HISTORICAL LEADERS AND DETERMINATION OF THE OLYMPIC PARTICIPANTS

When it comes to the first-placed national team in the FIVB women’s world volleyball rankings, since 2006, several national teams have alternated in the first place, namely: China, Russia, Brazil, USA, Serbia and Turkey.

Since the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle, the FIVB women’s volleyball world rankings has gained even more importance, since the 5 direct participants of the Olympic tournament are determined based on the placement on the rankings. The five best-placed national teams on the list that did not secure placement through qualifying tournaments or on the basis of hosting will be given the opportunity to compete in the Olympic tournament. In doing so, priority is given to the best-ranked national teams from continents that do not have a single national team that has already qualified.
