HISTORY AND DETERMINATION OF THE OLYMPIC PARTICIPANTS
When it comes to the first-placed national team in the FIVB ranking, we can safely say that Brazil is the dominant national team in the 21st century. From 2006 until 2023, Brazil was continuously at the top of the world list. In 2023, Poland under the leadership of the Serbian expert and volleyball legend, Nikola Grbic, managed to reach the first place in the FIVB men’s rankings.

Since the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle, the FIVB men’s world rankings has gained even more importance, since the five direct participants of the Olympic tournament are determined based on the placement on the list. The five best-placed national teams on the list that did not secure placement through qualifying tournaments or on the basis of hosting will be given the opportunity to compete in the Olympic tournament. In doing so, priority is given to the best-ranked national teams from continents that do not have a single national team that has already qualified.
